How does your script differ from mine? Does it have a better way of generating the list of pages? Right now my script grovels through the HTML emitted for the All Pages page (and it assumes that page contains a use of [[TitleIndex]]). —JoeWells

Whoa. Since when have official backups been available? Or are you referring to “if you send us e-mail we will do a backup for you”? I'm interested in automated backups.

Backups are available... working out how to handle automated backups rapidly becomes more than just a technical issue when you consider that some wikis are locked down tight for closed communities. Keep in mind that that script is just a piece of fluff code. If I update it to something useful it will likely appear on Gnome HQ. —jw

Can you confirm, yes or no, whether the backups you are referring to are the ones that must be requested by contacting a human?

The only "pure" exports must be requested right now, aye. The problem is that for certain wikis they might take a very long time to generate (500MB, etc) so care must be taken. Non-human interaction is of course the ideal! —PhilipNeustrom

The icon and directory entry is a freedesktop.org standard. The cookies handling exists in some of my spot* utilities... this one just happens not to have it because I didn't need it. —JabberWokky
