Wether you consider volunteering to be a social exercise or a physical endeavor, it has always been for me a wonderful change of pace. When I am able to be involved my self esteem increases, which helps me to feel open and lately i have needed that more as I have been laying around playing video games and watching television for way too long.
In my search for a good foot in the door for volunteering I have not had great luck. And so I have created this meetup for others who feel the same way, that volunteerism is not represented enough in this city. My great fear for Volunteer Toronto is they cater to people in school who need such hours for high school, or for bad people who need to serve for community service. Since I do not feel part of those groups and do not wish to travel too far (I use transit) I decided to open this site and see how successful I can be in developing my own Volunteer Society.
If anyone has experience creating not-for-profit organizations they (or you) can tell me that in this discussion and I will speak with you directly about joining myself and others to decide on a path to succeed in that.
Hopefully soon this group will populate and I myself will find a wealth of opportunities to participate in, and find a place for myself as a co-ordinator for others who wish also to expand the program.
